PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police released new information about the vehicle wanted in a hit-and-run where two people riding their bicycles were struck overnight in Northeast Philadelphia. One of those victims is now fighting for his life.

Police say a Range Rover may be involved in the crash after some car parts were left behind at the scene. The impact was so strong, there’s also this mangled bicycle wheel that’s left on the sidewalk.

Police say both bicyclists were hit at the intersection of Bustleton and Cottman Avenues, right outside the entrance to the Roosevelt Mall, around 1 a.m. Monday.

They say the woman was not hurt but the man suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in critical condition.

When police first got to the scene, they found the male victim lying in the street, along with bike parts all over the street.

They thought the man might be in his 30s but it turned out he was 42 years old.

Police tell Eyewitness News vehicle parts recovered from the scene match a 2012 to 2019 Range Rover Evoque. There should also be damage to the right front bumper, headlight, and mirror.

The color of the vehicle is unknown at this time.

People who live around the area tell Eyewitness News they often see cars traveling way too fast on busy Bustleton Avenue, like what officers say was the case early this morning.

Plus, it’s been raining off and on all night and visibility and street conditions haven’t been ideal.
