2022 Busch Light Clash picks, odds, predictions: Legendary NASCAR expert fading Chase Elliott at L.A. Coliseum – CBS Sports
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is the home of USC football and has hosted a plethora of blockbuster events like concerts, the 1932 and 1984 Summer Olympics, the 1959 World Series, and a pair of Super Bowls. The legendary venue will add auto racing to its resume this weekend when it hosts the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum on Sunday. The 44th annual edition of the exhibition race, which took place at Daytona International Speedway every year since its inception in 1979, will be the first on a track NASCAR has built inside a stadium.
Reigning series champion Kyle Larson is the 5-1 favorite in the latest 2022 Busch Light Clash odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Denny Hamlin is 13-2, while Chase Elliott (7-1), Kyle Busch (8-1) and Martin Truex Jr. (17-2) round out the top five Busch Light Clash 2022 contenders. The race is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET. You’ll want to check out the NASCAR at the Coliseum predictions from Micah Roberts, the legendary Vegas bookmaker who pioneered wagering on racing, before locking in any 2022 Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum picks.
Roberts, a former Vegas bookmaker, was the first to offer expanded NASCAR betting, and now hands out NASCAR winners to his followers on SportsLine. Roberts is the nation’s premier NASCAR betting expert, and his top pick, Chase Elliott, won the Jockey Made in America 250 last season.
He also correctly predicted the 2021 Coca-Cola 600 winner, hitting Larson’s win at 11-2 odds. The previous week, he was on point at the EchoPark Texas Grand Prix, targeting Elliott as the winner at 8-5 odds. Anyone who has followed his picks is up huge year after year.
Now, Roberts has analyzed the field and odds for Sunday’s NASCAR at the Coliseum 2022 race. He’s sharing his winner and leaderboard right here.
2022 Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum expert picks
One shocker: Roberts is low on Chase Elliott, even though he’s among the top 2022 Busch Light Clash contenders. In fact, Roberts says Elliott, who hasn’t won often on short tracks, barely cracks the top five.
Elliott hasn’t won a race since last July and failed to crack the top 10 in five of his last 10 races. “He’s the face of NASCAR right now,” Roberts told SportsLine, but the expert says he ends up in sixth place even though he’s the third-biggest favorite.
Another curveball: Roberts is high on Christopher Bell, even though he’s a 20-1 longshot in the latest 2022 NASCAR at L.A. odds. After recording only two top-five finishes as a rookie in 2020, the 27-year-old Oklahoman posted seven last season, including his first career Cup Series victory in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 at Daytona. Bell finished 12th in the points standings in 2021, when he ended the year with top-10s in five of his final six starts.
“This is a bet you only make because of the price and because he drives for Joe Gibbs Racing, one of the teams I expect to be at the front of education on making the new car go faster,” Roberts told SportsLine. “He was fourth in the spring race (on the short track) at Richmond last year and came back in the fall to finish third.”
