Police were looking for, and have since located, a white pickup truck that’s believed to have been one of two vehicles that hit and killed a woman Friday.

INDIANAPOLIS — Police have located one of two vehicles that reportedly hit and killed a woman walking along a northwest Indianapolis street on Friday night.

An IMPD spokesperson said police got a call just after 10:30 p.m. of a person down in the roadway on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street near 33rd Street. Officers arrived to find a woman in the road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not shared her name.

Investigators believe she was struck in the northbound lanes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, then went into the southbound lanes, where she was struck by a second vehicle.

Police said neither vehicle stopped at the scene of the crash and officers were searching for those vehicles. An IMPD spokesperson said car parts found in the area would likely help investigators determine a make and model of the vehicles involved.

On Saturday, IMPD identified one of the vehicles. Investigators were looking for, and have since located, a 2017-2018 white Ford F250 or 350 pickup with an upper windshield amber light bar and camper shell or truck cap.

Police said the truck, which may be connected to the hit-and-run, has damage to its driver’s side headlight. It’s unclear if the truck may have been the first or the second vehicle to hit the woman.

On Sunday, police confirmed the truck had been found and that no arrests had been made.

Police are asking anyone with information about the woman’s death to call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS.
