Cars have been rolling in all weekend for the Syracuse National Classic Car Show. It is bringing in over 8,000 hot rods, classics and custom cars. It’s a special year for a couple who is showcasing their car for the first time, right here inside the Exposition Center.

“My wife calls her the medal mistress,” classic car owner Anthony Romito said.

The 1970 Lime Green GTX is a decades-long work that started with hundreds of pieces in Anthony and his wife Michele’s garage.

“It’s been a journey,” Michele Romito said. “I have the patience of a saint. I had car parts in my house for almost two years, 2700 square foot house full of car parts everywhere. But it was his passion. So I was behind it 100%.”

Michele said it is an honor to be invited to the Syracuse Nationals to showcase their car that they have put so much work into.

“It is the greatest experience you could ever imagine, having a car and being shown in this caliber,” Michele said.

Anthony is from the Bronx. He says it is great to be back in New York, but it’s the people that make the experience worthwhile.

“Hands down, the people,” Anthony said. “Car people, they are amazing. Everybody’s got a great heart. Everybody’s giving, willing to help each other.”

“We have dinner dates already,” Michele said. “We have been in contact with people from past shows that we still are in contact with, it’s amazing.”

“I want to do this for as long as I possibly can,” Anthony said.
