A truck driver suffered major injuries in an early morning crash on I-80 in Utah.

The crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Friday, August 26, in Tooele County.

According to the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS), a white Volvo was westbound in the right lane of I-80 at mile marker 41. While the Volvo was still in motion, it was struck from behind by a white Kenworth truck.

Utah DPS says that the two trucks “stayed together” and stopped towards the right shoulder of the interstate.

Soon after the collision, the trucks caught fire.

Authorities said that the Kenworth driver suffered critical injuries and was airlifted.

The Volvo driver wasn’t hurt.

Utah DPS said that one semi was hauling car parts and the other was hauling wheat.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
